Chronic Constipation relief from Soaztherapy

For twenty years at least I have suffered with pain in my lower back and appendix area and also Chronic Constipation issues. This hindered any stretching, reaching, squatting and sitting activities. The ongoing dull ache around the appendix area at times increased on a pain scale to a nine out of ten.

Many and varied specialists and tests ( including a colonoscopy) have revealed nothing that was treatable. I was beginning to believe that I was a hypochondriac.

Since having the Soaztherapy approach at Posturepro, the constant ache has all but disappeared. I find I can use my Bowels much easier which I had previously not connected to pain or my other symptoms.

To be without ongoing and constant pain is such a relief and the relief from my Back pain has allowed me to maintain my active lifestyle.

Pregnancy Pain In Groin

The second trimester of pregnancy can bring with it sharp low abdominal and groin pain brought on by the round ligaments of the uterus. These ligaments are thick ropey and help to support the Uterus as the foetus grows. So they are stretching as the baby grows to accomodate this growth. As the ligaments stretch they can become very painful and create sharp intermittent and unexpected pain.

What You Can Do To Help The Pain

The pain usually comes on when you get up from sitting too quickly, laughing or coughing. The pain can be extremely sharp but usually settles almost immediately. Self management techniques include: getting up more slowly, moist heat across the painful area and gentle stretching. At Soaztherapy we can also offer treatment techniques for these painful ligaments that will help to prevent and alleviate the symptoms. Give Us A Call Now.

What About Stretching?

I have been trained to use stretches and have been a fan for most of my Physio life. Current research however disputes the efficacy of the humble stretch. The latest research suggests that the controlled groups of pre exercise stretching versus the pre exercise no stretching groups having no difference in the post exercise injury to the muscles. So, why stretch? more to the point I believe is WHEN do we stretch. As a Soaztherapist, I know that until the muscle is worked and released that attempting to stretch does not work. Its a bit like taking a piece of meat out of the freezer and trying to stretch it after 10 minutes. Yes the outside will be somewhat relaxed but the middle is still frozen. This is the case with dry hard and unresponsive Postural muscles.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel 75% Better after Soaztherapy

“I went to Posturepro for my lower back pain – acute pain sitting and trying to stand. I have had this for over 20 years and had to stop gym because of it. For the first time in years I feel I will get to a point where my back will not keep ‘going out’ since Soaztherapy I am now back at the gym five months and I feel my back muscles have strengthered. However, one of the side effects from the treatment has been an improvement in another problem of mine which is Irritable Bowel which I have also had for many years.

I have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome for many years and take the medication my G.P has recommended ( Colofac ). Since going to Posturepro and being treated with Soaztherapy the attacks have decreased to the point that if I get the pain it isnt as intense and its not the same continual pain and it settles of its own accord. I dont take the Colofac medication at all now .”

The Soaz and The Core

Strengthening the Abdominals Alone Wont work

If you only work at the “Core” as its commonly called (which is your deep abdominal muscles) and ignore the deepest core muscles (your Soaz ) muscles, then you will forever have to work on your abdominals because alone the abdominals cant work without the Soaz working in harmony with them.

In fact, I propose that the Soaz is the reason that the Abdominals are not able to activate or perform as they should. Both these muscle groups ( the Soaz and the Abdominals) were designed to work synchronistically or in harmony with each other as well as acting as opposing forces to maintain the force tension between opposing movements.

Think of these two opposing muscle groups, ( the Soaz and the Abdominals) as the guide wires of a tent. to get and keep the tent up, you need equal and opposing forces acting on all the ropes otherwise you end up with some too tight and some not working as they should. this resulting in sagging or weakness on one side of the tent and too much tension on the other. Where there is too much tension on the tent you will also see that the tent leans or is pulled toward the side of too much tension.

This is what happens in the deepest part of our spine and pelvis when we have tight unresponsive Soaz muscles and Weak overstretched Abdominal muscles. So, just strengthening the weak Abdominals is only doing part of the job of getting balance and support for your back and pelvic areas. The Soaz muscles when tight and dry ( as is usually the case) with Back and Pelvic pain will arch the low back and pull the lower spine backward ( often referred to as sway back). When this happens, The Stomach protrudes forward and the abdominals become overstretched and weak. So, trying to just strengthen the Abdominals alone will not address the problem long term.

At Posturepro, we are able to address your Soaz issues and the resulting Back and Pelvic pain that results. Contact us today.

Back Pain The Soaz and The Core

Core Needs Soaz To Work Effectively

More on the Core and The Soaz and how they depend on each other to get you the Best result for you Back and Pelvic pain.

As a Physiotherapist, I have always prescribed Core work and still do. What I no longer do is give Core exercises to someone until they have Responsive Soaz Muscles. The reason for this is that Abdominal muscle work alone overpowers the Soaz and Spinal Extensor Muscles which are already overworked and usually have increased tone.

If just the Core ( Deep Abdominals ) alone are worked then Co-contraction of the two muscles results. This is like splinting of the two Muscle groups. This can result in the abdominal Organs being sandwiched between these two forces and causing impaired functioning of the Digestive and Elimination processes. Please visit my Case Studies and my Testimonials pages to see the result of the Soaz muscle having a direct effect on the Organs. Link.

Call our clinic and learn the Secret to Treating this Muscle.

What do I mean by Responsive Soaz muscles. A Responsive Soaz muscle is one that moves and reacts in harmony to the demands made of it. Just Stretching or Poking this muscle does not release it. In fact the more harsh or aggresive you are to this muscle it just tightens up more. At Posturepro clinic We know the way to get this muscle Responsive and give you the best result for you Back and Pelvic pain.

Soaz Back pain and Incontinence

What do these have in common?

Stress Incontinence is a condition that affects many women after childbirth. The Pelvic “Sling” which has become stretched and weak no longer has the same ability to support the bladder and bowel as it did prior to giving birth. So when you lift things like shopping bags or your children this sling has lost its elasticity or ability to respond to this increase in pressure. As Physiotherapists we are trained to teach Pelvic Floor ( the Sling ) exercises to rehabilitate these muscles and avoid ongoing incontinence. With retraining these muscles respond well and the exercises are very easy to do.

The other mucle group within the Pelvic cavity is the Soaz muscles. In Pregnancy, these muscles are like two extra support structures for the spine. As the baby grows the Soaz muscles stretch out and help support the baby and the spine accomodating for extra weight and load under gravity.

It is after birth that the Soaz muscles shorten again and go back to doing their job of being our walking muscles and keeping us in an upright position against gravity.

As these Soaz muscles exert about 100kg of force over our spines daily there is no denying that they have great strength and ability to shear and rupture discs, creating a cascade of events to begin resulting in Back and Pelvic pain.

One of the other effects these muslces have is their ability to push on and distort the viscera and organs that sit around them in the pelvis. Read here about a case from my Case Studies. These forces that affect the discs and lead to Back pain are the same as that cited in the Bowel displacement.

Other benefits of treating the Soaz mucles and that I hear back from my Female clients is that after treating the Soaz mucles for their Back Pain, they also have experienced a lessening of their incontinence symptoms. This is without any surgery or internal treatment. So, if you are needing help with your Incontinence issues, come in and we will check your Soaz muscles. they may be the first step in aleviating your Incontinence. call us now

Shoulder Pain in Women

Why do Women get shoulder pain?

As a Physiotherapist of twenty years, I am always amazed that women with shoulder pain have no idea how they got it.

On questioning them about their activities and things like what sports they are involved in there doesnt seem to be any convincing reason Why they have this condition. After all, this condition is most prevalent in the group who would be using their arm in an elevated position on a regular basis and over a long period of time.

Some of the groups I would see presenting with shoulder pain would be painters who may use their arm in the elevated position repetitively over many years. Another group could be swimmers also bringing their arm over their head in the elvevated position in a repetitive way. Or someone who decides they are going to trim all the tall trees and shrubs in their garden and for the next several hours uses the arms in this overhead position.

But for Women who dont fit the above circumstances there is usually another explanation.

Well, it took me a few years to work this out because I am not one of these women. Can you guess what the contributing factor might be?

Doing their Bra up from the Back

This practice is wide and ingrained in many women of a certain age group and because it jams up the tendon that sits under the acromioclavicular joint ( A.C.) joint the tendon starts to become inflamed and can even tear over time.

As I have never done my bra up this way, it took me some time to work out how this group was getting their shoulder pain.

So, if you are a woman suffering from this debilitating condition called Impingement of the shoulder, then the simple answer is to stop doing your bra up at the back and start to do it up at the Front.

Sounds simple? it is. Because most injuries require you to stop the aggravating activity and then start to help your shoulder recover by using some form of massage or heat to encourage the blood to get into the area of pain. This stimulation will help the Blood and its contents to start the healing process.

After the pain starts to subside begin a strengthening regime for the rotator cuff and the deltoid muscles. This should be done under the guidance of a Physiotherapist so you dont start the whole process off again by doing the exercises in the wrong way.

So, if you need some help with shoulder pain, call us at Posturepro

Pain In The Back

The upside of Back Pain is that it is there to warn you that something is not right. But there is a lot of confusion about Back Pain in the minds of many people as to how to get relief and even more confusing is Who to see.

Should I see a Chiropractor or a Physiotherpist or the many other therapists out there.

One of the questions I always get asked by my clients is. ” What is the difference between a Chiro and a Physio”

I like to answer by differentiating between both of them and Soaztherapy.

Soaztherapy is a totally 360 degree different approach to Back Pain, SIJ pain, Hip pain, Sciatic pain, Hip, Groin and Pelvic pain.

Soaztherapy looks at the symptom which IS Back Pain and treats what Causes Back Pain.It does not treat the Pain in the back.

I liken it to a car that has bad alignment. The result ( symptoms ) are premature wear and tear on the tyres and other structures. You cant just keep changing the tyres. this is foolish. You must get the alignment checked and correctedl.

In your body the alignment is your Posture.

If your Posture is not optimal then you will always be having pain.

at Posturepro we know how to get your ‘alignment’ to its optimal and stop your pain in the Back symptoms.

Restless Leg syndrome

No known cause, no known cure in the medical literature

What is the Cause of this insidious debilitating condition. I have done some reading up on this condition that seems to plague its victims mainly in the early hours of the morning preventing sleep night after night so that sleep becomes an elusive quest.

From what I have heard and read, it seems that the lack of sleep becomes more of a problem in chronic cases sometimes as I understand it to the point of desperation and in some cases suicide can be contemplated.

This elusive phenomenon that I have had some success with in my clinic perhaps by default. I have reasoned that the positions that it sneaks up on the victim is usually in the foetal position in bed. as soon as the person arises and starts to pace it subsides.

I have also had feedback from one of my own clients that one of the positions I place my clients into during the Soaz treatment for painful Back or Pelvis is also a position that has helped when this mixture of symptoms starts.

I consider that the entrapment syndrome of the very small area in the groin where the artery and nerve bundle need to traverse is compromised usually by the Psoas muscle. Perhaps as the person compromises it even more in the foetal position it is impossible to get either blood or maybe even nerve impulses past this point. So that muscles which rely on both feel the need to move to find this lifeblood.

just a thought.
